Instagram Addiction
posted on 2012 Feb 02I downloaded Instagram a very long time ago, but never really got in to using it. I didn't see any value in using a service to share my pictures, and why I would want to add filters that would destroy what I had originally seen (which is what I wanted to share or remember in the first place). Needless to say I stopped using it altogether, since Facebook already took care of all my photo sharing needs. After recently ditching Facebook, I haven't really uploaded many pictures to the Internet as much as I used to. It wasn't until today that I really found out how useful Instagram could be. Maybe it has something to do with my new found love for Twitter or maybe it was a suggestion for one of my long-distance friends to start using it again that made me realize I want and need a great service to host and share my really awesome and amazing photos. Oddly enough I watched the most recent Foundation episode which featured Kevin Systrom, founder of Instagram.
Once I was back in the app, and added a few friends, synced up Foursquare and Twitter, I was in love. It also helped that once I was back in the app, I realized that I didn't have to add a filter to the picture before uploading it. I must mention that I am probably addicted to the "Popular" tab! I want to keep clicking refresh over and over to see all of the amazing new pictures people are sharing.
Chuck VS the Goodbye
posted on 2012 Jan 27It's official. My favorite television show of all time has come to an end. I'm sad to see it go, but I'm also glad that NBC didn't try to run it into the ground. I'm also glad that the creators and writers had the change to end the series how they wanted, instead of leaving the plot hanging. The ending that was given could be considered a bit cliche, although it did wrap everything up in a neat package that left you feeling satisfied.
To all the cast and crew that were able to make such a great series: Aces, Charles.

New Years Resolutions… New & Old
posted on 2011 Dec 29A couple weeks ago, I looked back at my list of resolutions for this year and was a bit surprised that I had achieved a great number of them. Those that weren't 100% actually did have some progress made on them. I'll recap my list and presnt my new one for the upcoming 2012 year.
The Past - 2011- Focus on better health
- Build an iPhone app
- Build a Magic the Gathering website and/or card database
- Freelance more often
- Meditate at least 1 hour weekly
- Create a webisode series
As for better health, I did exercise some and I tried to eat home cooked meals but I think I partly failed on this front as a busy life became and excuse to not deal with this. I was able to build several iPhone apps and I actually got the StormTracker app published to the Apple's app store. I started on the MTG site/database, but didn't get very var since I pretty much stopped actively (let alone keeping up with it). I did freelance a lot so that's a plus to the list. I didn't meditate in the traditional sense, but I made room "silent time" throughout my busy schedule. By "silent time" I mean no outside communications or distractions, no music or television; rather more like looking out the window or laying in bed with my eyes closed for about 15 minutes. I worked on creating the webisode series and have a good amount of details on it, but I just didn't have the time to commit to it and starting my business. This may end up falling under one of my new resolutions for the upcoming year. Read more!! I read a lot! Everything from fiction to programming. I even read the rather long biography of Steve Jobs! I don't think I've read this much since high school, where I was forced to read. I think owning an iPad really helped on this front, because I am positive if someone had given me a real book, I would not have read it, even if it was something I had actually read and liked this past year.
The Future - 2012- Rebrand Blue Computers (blue, Inc.) as SpaceRock IT
- Become my own boss, aka focus on making my business sucessful
- Complete more projects that I start or think up (webisode, programming, health, etc.)
- Start networking and meeting other professionals in my sector
- Document my thoughts! Projects, ideas, work, and personal development
- Create a "normal" routine and follow it
- Not let the Mayans screw up my plans, aka don't let the world end
I think these are all pretty self explanatory. I basically want to really put all of my effort towards making my business grow and become less dependent on having a full time salary job. Other than that, I really want to grow personally to create better habits and life expectations. I've noticed over the past couple of years that what I expect out of life is not always what I end up doing so I want to create a dynamic and powerful life that I am accountable for.
See you again this time next year. That is if I can remember or make time to keep blogging regularly.
She & Him (Band)
posted on 2011 Dec 19I saw the A Very She and Him Christmas album at Starbucks today and it got me back in the mood to listen to the band again. I downloaded the christmas album, but I have been listening to their non-holiday music. I think Zooey Deschanel is extremely talented! I've been watching her new television show New Girl and have yet to really form an opinion on it. I think my favorite performances by her are Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Yes! Man
Site Redesign & New Blog
posted on 2011 Dec 01So, I've redesigned the look of my personal site and have moved all of my old blog posts over to my company's weblog. They were all mostly tutorials, so I thought they fit best there. I'm still working on getting some ancillary content ported over, such as quotes (and innuendo) some of my videos and guitar recordings. I'm considering adding a gallery to this new site, but it would probably end up just being links to my Picasa Web Albums so I may just link to that.
What's New?Basically I'm starting fresh for the New Year (2012) because one of my new resolutions is going to be to blog more often. I've noticed over the past year that I haven't really had a good place to vent or take a mind dump every once in a while. That's the plan at least.
This will probably end up as a few rantings about life and programming. I occasionally may talk about cooking or music and entertainment. Generally this will be where I post random things that pop in to my head from time to time. it probably won't be for everyone, and I'm sure I'll drop a few curse words now and then; I did serve in the military for a while...
